Anxiety and depression are very common in today’s world. Many of us feel as though we are overwhelmed with “to do’s”, disconnected in our relationships, and completely stressed out by a number of pressing factors. We may never feel good enough, judge ourselves harshly, experience the need to constantly perform to meet others’ demands and live up to others’ social standards. Keeping busy and in control is one way we might cope to survive life’s challenges, but sometimes it can seem as though we have lost ourselves and our own needs in the process.
Many of life’s most important experiences are also some of our biggest hurdles. When we struggle, we are being called to shift, adapt, and grow. This growth can be supported with stronger and more secure relationships. In my sessions I offer a safe space to begin the process of exploring relational health, including past and present family dynamics, to encourage the deepening of secure bonds that lead to a stronger sense of self, deeper authenticity, connectedness, and wholeness.
I specialize in helping those who have experienced childhood emotional stress and are struggling with resulting depression, anxiety, and relationship difficulties that can show up in parenting, interacting with parents in adulthood, peer relationships, and romantic relationships with significant others. I earned a master’s degree in marriage and family therapy from Northcentral University and I am a licensed marriage and family therapist (LMFT) in Pennsylvania. I have provided both in-home and outpatient therapy services to families and individuals of all ages to address a wide array of concerns in addition to anxiety and depression, such as: relational trauma; emotional disconnection; identity/self-esteem struggles; behavior concerns; LGBT issues; communication; and parenting. I use a systemic therapy approach (an approach that is not isolated to the individual) to examine difficult experiences and strained relationships to unlock discoveries about how our relational past plays out in the present and how we can develop new ways of living.
If you are struggling with anxiety, depression, or disconnection, you are not alone. It can also feel daunting to take the first step to healing. Know that feeling better is possible. Contact me for a consultation to learn more about how I can support you in changing your life.
